Join the Dutchess County Association of REALTORS® (DCAR) for an informative Fair Housing Lunch & Learn focused on disability awareness, accessibility, and compliance in real estate transactions.
This 2-hour Fair Housing continuing education class will help REALTORS® better understand how Federal Fair Housing laws, the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and New York State housing regulations impact everyday real estate practice. Participants will gain practical guidance on how to work effectively and respectfully with clients who have disabilities while remaining compliant with fair housing requirements.
During this session, we will explore:
• Key Federal and New York State fair housing protections related to disability
• What qualifies as a disability under housing laws
• How disability protections apply in sales, rentals, advertising, and showings
• Situations that may constitute housing discrimination based on disability
• Best practices for representing clients with mobility, hearing, or other accessibility needs
• Practical strategies to help REALTORS® reduce risk while promoting inclusive housing opportunities
This course is designed for REALTORS® who want to strengthen their understanding of fair housing compliance, accessibility, and professional responsibility, while continuing to provide ethical and equitable service to all clients.
Participants will also earn Fair Housing continuing education credit required for New York State real estate license renewal.
